The council has approved a preferred design for the replacement of Beaumonts Bridge on Great South Road in Manurewa.

Transport in Manukau
Transport is a major issue in Manukau city. People here are Manukau has easy access to key transport facilities that makes the city a good location for business. Auckland International Airport is in Manukau and the city is well served by state highways and rail. People here are geographically dispersed and more likely to rely upon their cars than using public transport.
A number of major roading projects are underway in the city to improve access around Manukau.
Manukau City Council currently maintains and improves approximately 3000km of roads. The council also develops the capacity of the local road network to cope with growth, as well as working with central Government to improve the state highway system.
Although the Auckland Regional Land Transport Authority (ARTA) is responsible for responsible for planning and funding the public transport system, Manukau City Council plays a major advocacy role. The council works to ensure public transport services are provided for the city's communities and promotes key infrastructure improvements - for example the Manukau rail link.
The council provides the supporting physical infrastructure for public transport which is outside the rail corridor. This includes bus priority measures, park and ride facilities at rail stations and ferry terminals, bus shelters and bus stops.
