Colin Dale motorsport park

Location: adjacent to Manukau Harbour and the Puhinui Reserve, on Prices Road off Puhinui Road (State Highway 20B) near the airport.

The council is developing Colin Dale Park as a venue for a wide range of motor sports and leisure activities and to be a centre for regional, national and international events.

The preliminary concept plan highlighted the potential use for go-karts, speedway, off-road racing/motocross, radio-controlled cars, blokarts, BMX and jet sprint boats. It underlined the need for both club-based activities as well as commercial activities on a sharing basis.

This concept plan identified three main speedway circuits - a short track circuit for motor cycles and cars, a go-kart track and a venue for off-road racing/motocross. Read more

Hayman Park redevelopment

Location: Manukau city centre

The face of Manukau City Centre is set to change. The introduction of a rail connection, university campus development and planned city growth will see the centre of Manukau City undergo major redevelopment.

Status: October 2010 - the design competition for the park redevelopment has been won. Read more.

Honey Place playground renewal

Location: Honey Place, Weymouth

Manurewa netball centre

Location: Dalgety Drive, Manurewa

The council is undertaking a feasibility study to identify the needs of present and future users of the centre. The study will include developing strategic and business plans. Once competed concept designs for the refurbishment of the centre will be developed. read more

Status: First stage is to be completed by December 2010.

Manurewa Reserve playground renewal

Location: Manurewa Reserve, Russell Road

Mountfort Park upgrade

Location: Mountfort Park, Dr Pickering Ave, Manurewa

To meet the needs of the community the council is redeveloping Mountfort Park with the aim of establishing multi-use shared facilities. The redevelopment of grounds will be led by Manukau Parks and will be spread over four years. read more

Status: stage 1 earthworks are under way. Anticipated completion for stage 1 is May 2010.

St Anne's foreshore improvement

Location: 43R St Anne's Crescent, Manurewa

This project involves the protection of foreshore with geotextile bund and planting.

Status: physical works are underway. We anticipate a completion date of May 2010.

Totara Park mountain bike track

Location: 90R Wairere Road, Manurewa

The council is developing stage one of the Totara Park mountain bike trails network. Stage one which includes a connector trail that starts from Redoubt Road car park and connects to the main loop, is now complete. The main loop starts from the gully winding its way up to and along Redoubt Road and back into the valley. Overall the trail will be 3665m long.

Status: stages 2 and 3 are under way, with physical works anticipated for completion in October 2010.

Totara Park playground

Location: Wairere Road, Manurewa

Planning for the upgrade of the existing adventure playground is underway.

Status: . Detailed designs are being developed. We anticipate the commencement of physical works in November.

Totara Park walkway connection

Location: 84R Charles Prevost Drive, Manurewa

This project developed a walkway to connect 84R Charles Prevost Drive with Totara Park's northern boundary.

Status: completed.

Wattle Farm Reserve

Location: 39R Wattle Farm Road, Wattle Downs, Manurewa

Watercare is currently upgrading the existing sewer pump line and station that is based at Wattle Farm Ponds and services the Manurewa area. As part of these works, the existing playground will be relocated into a more appropriate location within the park.

Status: relocation of the playground is complete. Works to upgrade the sewer line are expected to be completed in 2011.
