Skatepark at Barry Curtis Park.

Officially opened!

Manukau City Council’s new premier skatepark at Barry Curtis Park is now officially opened.

One of New Zealand’s most ambitious, the skatepark was designed by Isthmus Group who worked with a technical advisory group including skate advocate Owen Williams, Mark Finlay from Cheapskates Junction and Boardertown’s Tim Guy.

In a New Zealand first, the team developed ideas from local skateboarders sent in via social networking site Facebook.  These were reviewed by experienced skatepark builders from New Zealand and Australia.

The park features a large modern plaza area, authentic classic pool, innovative skateable materials and structures, entryways and paths, and viewing and socialising space. It has been designed to host international events and the bowl will challenge local skaters for years to come.

The final concept plan is complete and can be viewed below, or from our website.
