Dogs in parks

We have a range of dog friendly parks. Generally dogs can be off the leash but must be keptĀ under control at all times.

There are several places where dogs are prohibited at all times. These are:

  • Sports grounds
  • Department of Conservation managed areas
  • Playgrounds
  • Otuataua Stonefields
  • Wattle Farm Reserve wildlife protection area
  • Mangemangeroa foreshore
  • Most Manukau beaches during daylight saving hours in summer.

Dogs must be on a leash at all times in the following:

  • In reserves containing bush
  • Along popular walkways
  • Musick Point Reserve
  • Totara Park.
