The Rotary Walkway in Pakuranga runs around the edge of the water of the Tamaki Estuary and Whakaaranga Creek. Walkers can now access from Pigeon Mountain all the way to Pakuranga Road.
Gently meandering at the water's edge, the Rotary Walkway in Pakuranga provides a peaceful setting for you to enjoy, walking, cycling or jogging.
The ebb and flow of tides, seasonal gathering of birds and the coming and going of boats, form an integral part of the ever changing scenery.
There are many points of interest along the walkway, including extensive views up and down the Tamaki River, layers of ask, peat and ignimbrite, wetland areas, and features of historical and cultural significance.
Bicycles are permitted but need to share the walkway with pedestrians. If you are riding a bike please give way to people walking and watch out around blind corners.
Access
The walkway is paved and relatively flat, making it suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and a range of fitness levels. The walkway stretches over five kilometres with a return trip taking around 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Dogs
Dogs are welcome along the walkway provided they are kept under control and do not disturb wildlife or other park users. Dogs are not permitted on sport fields or near children's playgrounds.
