Walkways * Ecological Bush
Murphy's Bush has the largest remaining stand of mature lowland bush in Auckland and the finest examples of mature Kahikatea (white pine) which are coniferous and endemic to New Zealand.
Murphy's Bush was previously owned by Mr Conway Grey Murphy. He protected the bush from grazing cattle, and encouraged people to use the bush for picnics and outings. The Bush is still enjoyed the same way over 100 years later with open glades in the middle of the bush providing wonderful picnic sites. You can book Murphy's Bush for picnics or outdoor functions.
The park has a number of well formed walking tracks through the bush. Walks range from 10 minutes to 1 hour and are suitable for everyone. You can see many specimens of native trees including Kahikatea, Nikau groves, Puriri, Totara and Rimu.
Dogs
Dogs are permitted but they must be kept under control and not disturb wildlife or other park users.
