Growing for health. 

Manukau Parks is establishing teaching gardens at different parks around Manukau to help teach residents basic gardening techniques that can be taken back to the home.

Participants will be taught basic gardening skills from seed germination to growing and harvesting. Participants will be able to keep the produce grown.

The programme will take place at the following reserves:

  • Middlemore Reserve, Papatoetoe
  • Stadium Reserve, Papatoetoe
  • Walter Massey Park, Mangere East
  • Old School Reserve, Mangere
  • East Tamaki Reserve, Otara
  • Centre Park, Mangere.

2010 open days - February

Manukau Parks is holding six open days at the following teaching garden sites in Mangere, Papatoetoe and Otara:

Centre Park, 27 February, 10:30am – 12:00noon
East Tamaki Reserve, 13 February, 4:30pm – 6:00pm
Middlemore Reserve, 6 March, 10:30am – 12:00noon
Walter Massey Reserve, 20 February, 4:30pm – 6:00pm
Old School Reserve, 20 February, 10:00am – 12:00noon
Stadium Reserve, 13 February, 10:30am – 12:00noon
