Do you wish to lease or rent council-owned premises for your community group?
Community tenancies are council owned premises which are leased to local not-for-profit groups in need of a building from which to operate.
Who can apply?
Your group must be based in Manukau and provide services to Manukau residents.
Your group must be a legal entity, for example, an incorporated society or trust.
Your community group must provide at least one of the following activities or services:
- Cultural or artistic diversity
- Recreation, sport or leisure
- Community health services
- Community safety
- Community education
- Community services
- Environmental enhancement.
Funding criteria
- Your group must be able to show the benefits of your activities to the community and have a clear management structure
- Your group must be able to show its ongoing financial capability
- Groups will be encouraged to share with other groups who have similar or compatible activities or services
- The council will not lease a building to a group which has had a lease terminated, or lease problems with the council in the last three years.
When can you apply?
Applications are accepted when vacant facilities are advertised and made available. It is advisable to discuss your requirements with the funding co-ordinator at any other time.
