Here are some of our ideas about why our school is a great place to be. These ideas are written by the members of our student health team.
Something that the children play on:
Playgrounds - A great choice of physical education, as it shows the ways to conquer challenges that may be hard, such as monkey bars or even a rock-climbing wall. It’s a great way to make new friend and it’s a way to shake off the stresses of everyday school life.

Something that we use to help the environment:
Compost Bins - Our school contains more than one compost bin which we dispose our food scraps and end up using them as compost. We then use the compost to provide great soil for our vegetable gardens which also helps the families of our school because we use the vegetables grown to share with our families.
Something that protects us from the sun:
Our sunhats always protects us from the sun because of the flaps. The front flap helps the children not to get sunburnt. That is also what the back flap does except it’s protecting our necks.
Something that keeps us safe:
Duty assistants are two students that go around the school and choose a person to be the disciple of the week. They also sort out problems and help students. If we didn’t have duty assistants our students will not learn how to be mature and responsible outside the classroom. We also have yellow lines on each corner of the school which prevents many accidents. When you are on the yellow lines - you have to walk!
Something that keeps the children in our school fit and healthy:
Jump Jam - every morning, to warm St Anne’s up, the whole school walks up to the Netball and Basketball courts and does Jump Jam. Jump Jam is a motivational heart pumping fun part of the day because while you are getting fit and healthy you are also jump and jamming to fun music. We also have fruit. Thankfully, our school was provided with fresh fruit which we receive every day. In the morning, the fruit is evenly divided into classroom buckets and delivered by different pupils’ each day so we receive the nutrients and vitamins recommended which gives us the right energy for school.

Something of your own choice that you think is important to our school:
We think that the staff at our school plays an important role in keeping the children healthy. They encourage us to eat healthily and provide us with healthy food if we have no lunch. They give us sports, vegetable gardens, the Life Caravan and next term the senior classes will be involved in the DARE programme. We have free swimming lessons that our teachers help supervise. We have Mr Hey who gets us across our busy road, we have Health Promoting team, we are a KidsCan charity school and now everyone has a new raincoat and some children have new shoes.
We are so lucky to go to a school with a health promoting focus. Look at all the things we are provided with because of being a Health Promoting School.
As a Catholic School, through the delivery of an integrated Religious Education Programme, the teachings of the Church are fulfilled. The school’s environment reflects its Special Catholic Character where faith is nourished, strengthened and celebrated. Individuals are nurtured, cared for and supported. This is also reflected by actions and words as we teach the children to have an understanding and respect for themselves, others and their environment.
