Manukau’s premier fashion event returns to the stage

Designer registrations have closed, garments have been submitted and the awards show is entering its final stages of production. Finalists are being selected, models are being cast and stylists, hair and makeup teams and production crew are working their magic.

Designers, artists, students, graduates and professionals alike are competing across six design categories.

Winners stand to gain in more ways than one. Not only are winning designers recognised as the best in their field in front of their peers, the community and the fashion industry, they stand to win $15,000 worth of cash prizes offered by the council and our sponsors.

Award show

Villa Maria Cult-Couture steps up to its new arena venue in style, with a star-studded line-up set to prove that fashion and performance go hand in hand.

J. Williams, Annie Crummer, Tina Cross, Jackie Clarke, Suzie Lynch and Taisha as the Ladykillers, Sola Rosa, and the newly crowned world hip hop champs ReQuest will all be performing at the one-night-only Fashion Design Awards Show.

Creative director Chantelle Whaiapu says that each year the show is based around a different theme, with the weird and wonderful world of the circus bringing its magical and fantastical flourishes to the stage this time round.

“We’ve been inspired by the exotic world of the Cirque, where the bizarre and the extraordinary come to play.”

Villa Maria Cult-Couture is presented as part of Manukau Festival of Arts 2010.
