Events at Botany Library have African flavour

24/06/2010

Botany Library will be hosting two events with a distinctly African flavour next month.

The library will be filled with the lively sounds of Africa at a drumming workshop with experienced tutor Jimi Dale on Friday, 16 July 2010. Come along and share in the joy of the music. Drums are supplied. Places are limited and a $10 per person fee applies. To register contact Botany Library by phone 272 0010 or email botany.library@manukau.govt.nz.

Author Dr Charlotte Brits launches her book Miss Doc on Saturday, 24 July 2010. Charlotte will take the audience back to the 1950s as she recounts her experience working as a young doctor in the remote African bush where locals called her Miss Doc. The event is open to interested Manukau residents and is free.

Customer Services Team Leader at Botany Library Leigh Reinhardt is delighted to showcase Africa to Manukau residents.

“Africa is in the international spotlight at the moment. Those of you who weren’t able to make it to the World Cup should pop along to one of our events and get a taste of this vibrant, fascinating continent”.
