Manukau is the third largest and the fastest growing city in New Zealand, with approximately 354,800 residents and a skilled and diverse workforce.

Because of the city's strategic location, hundreds of businesses are choosing to move or relocate each year, in fact Manukau's economy grew at 1.2 per cent in 2008.

  • Auckland Airport is located in Manukau and is New Zealand's largest facility for passenger numbers and second largest for goods.  It is the primary gateway to New Zealand for air travellers and the millions of tourists who visit the country annually.
  • The business zone surrounding the airport is one of the largest in the city and is continuing to expand as companies take advantage of this strategic location.  There are currently 70 freight forwarding companies located close to the airport.
  • Twenty minutes from Manukau are the Ports of Auckland and Onehunga, which handle 50 per cent of New Zealand's total container trade and export to 73 countries.

Manukau is readily accessible to the rural southern Auckland and Waikato areas, offering excellent opportunities for the processing of food, timber and other primary products.
