Why graffiti matters.

Graffiti is an ongoing and significant issue our community.

The prevalence of graffiti vandalism or 'tagging' signals a lack of social cohesion, perceptions of danger and reduced property values for owners. It has a detrimental effect on the image and well-being of the city.

The council is committed to the eradication of graffiti vandalism in the city, but we also need the help from our communities.

You can:

  • Report graffiti vandalism to the council’s call centre on 09 262 5104 and request graffiti removal on residential properties
  • Report details of a tagger such as his /her address or the vehicle involved to 0800 STOP TAGS (0800 7867 8247)  or text 0276 56 0008
  • Join our Adopt A Spot volunteer programme. Phone 09 269 4080  for more details
  • Join the Mayor’s Taskforce on Graffiti Reduction if you are an owner or operator of a commercial property. For more information on the taskforce call 09 269 4080.
