The Manukau Beautification Charitable Trust (MBCT) works with the council providing a wide range of community based projects.
The MBCT was established in 2002 as a result of the
Graffiti Management Strategy 2001 (PDF 364kb).
The MBCT has the following core functions as part of graffiti managment:
- Eradicate graffiti from the community
There is a graffiti removal team that travels throughout Manukau each day removing tagging and graffiti.
- Provide community education
Educating the community that graffiti is not tolerated. Involvement of local schools in legal arts and paint out graffiti is an important component of its programmes.
- Enforcement liaison
Working closely with Police for the purpose of identifying, quantifying and prosecuting graffiti offences and offenders.
