The Policy on Dogs 2004 (PDF 112kb) and its associated Bylaw 2008 (PDF 941kb) support responsible dog owners by continuing to allow them to exercise their dogs off-leash in most reserve, beach and foreshore areas.
The policy also targets irresponsible dog owners who allow their dog to roam, intimidate, bite people or animal's, fail to comply with leash or prohibition laws or fail to pick up faeces left by their dog.
