Tomorrow's Manukau represents the aspirations of Manukau's diverse communities. It has a vision of where Manukau communities want the city to be in ten years time. A progressive city of proud and prosperous people.
The aim of Tomorrow's Manukau is to act as a guide for Manukau's citizens and organisations as we work towards achieving that vision.
Manukau City Council and Tomorrow's Manukau - Manukau Āpōpō
Manukau City Council has a dual role in Tomorrow’s Manukau, to identify and help achieve community outcomes.
In accordance with the Local Government Act 2002, the council facilitates a collaborative and consultative process with residents, community groups, stakeholders and other key organisations to identify community outcomes.
Although the council cannot deliver all of the community outcomes on its own, it does take a leadership role in supporting and encouraging others to work in collaboration towards that achievement.
For the council, Tomorrow’s Manukau is the cornerstone of its work programmes. The council considers which outcomes it can contribute to and what actions it will undertake. These are then proposed in the
Long Term Council Community Plan and in the Annual Plan. Manukau residents have the opportunity to make submissions on both these plans before they are approved by Council.
Manukau City Council also monitors progress towards the achievement of community outcomes in partnership with Tomorrow's Manukau partners, and reports to the community every three years in the publication called "The Changing Face of Manukau".
The council's own contribution to the community outcomes is reported in each year's Annual Report.
The council is currently a partner in a number of projects developed in response to Tomorrow’s Manukau - Manukau Āpōpō.
