Council organisation structure.

How your city is managed

The management of Manukau City Council follows a corporate model with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) being responsible to the governing body - in this case the elected members (councillors) who make up the council.

The council decides the policies and the general governance of the city.

The CEO, Leigh Auton, is charged with implementing the policies determined by the council as well as the strategic and day-to-day general management of the city.

Mr Auton has six directors reporting to him. The directors are responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of six key areas of council activity:

In addition to the Directors, Mr Auton also has a CEO Advisory Unit which guide him on key strategic matters of interest to the running of the city.
