Public Access

By law all council and community board meetings are required to be open to the public to attend. Members of the public do not have automatic speaking rights but can apply to make a deputation. Please contact the committee advisers at the council for more information.

In addition to allowing deputations and petitions, community boards hold a public forum at each of their meetings at which members of the public may address the board. Please contact the Democratic Services Ward Co-ordinator for further information.

There are times when the public will be excluded for specific items of business when this is necessary. The Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 sets out the circumstance under which this may occur.
